Why Data-Caring Has to Be the Next Big Investment for Luxury Brands

Discretion was always part of the service. Now it has to be part of the system.

A good sales associate remembers your size, your anniversary and the colour you never wear. A good luxury brand now remembers all of that in software, along with your address, your purchases and, sometimes, far more.

From discretion to data-caring

Data-caring means treating customer information the way the house treats its most valuable materials: collected deliberately, stored carefully, used with respect, and never left lying around.

Where to invest first

  • Collect less: only what improves the client’s experience.
  • Lock down clienteling apps on staff devices.
  • Make privacy notices as well-designed as the boutique.
